I find it easier to play tabs that include lyrics.

It is easy to find lyrics for most songs by entering 'lyrics song name' in Google.

When you include the lyrics and line up the tabs with the lyrics your tabs are easier for others to read and play.

Good luck.

I just posted Sugar, Sugar. I ran out of space for all the lyrics. The amount of room allotted for a tab would need to be at least doubled in order to include all the lyrics for a song. Currently there just isn't enough space to put the tabs and the lyrics for the longer songs.

The tabs need to be spaced over the proper words. All these spaces also add up to the listing.

yea, I am sorry about that but I have found that when the tabs exceed a certain size the submit button wouldn't work.

When you find the lyrics you on the web:

1. Click on the first Character of the lyrics.

2. Shift Click on the last character of the lyrics.

3. Press ctrl-C to copy the lyrics.

4. Open a new document in your text editor.

5. Press ctrl-V to paste in the lyrics.

6. Do an Edit/Select all.

7. Format the font to Color black, Font Courier or Courier New.

8. Now add your tabs to the lyrics.

9. Remember to space with the space bar - NOT the tab key.

10. Save your new tab as TXT.

You will have tabs that are ready to paste into this site.

I agree that havin' the lyrics lined up with the tabs makes it much easier to learn a new song... but dang, that isn't always soo easy to do.

I'm guilty of postin' an Irish tune today without the lyrics, because although I could play the tune, I couldn't line up the lyrics without giving myself a major headache, and since it's not a common melody, I didn't have a reference to work with. Sorry if that messes people up... I'm just a beginner & mostly wingin' it with the sheet music.

I would not take offence, if anybody emailed me with suggestions on any tabbed music I summit. I would greatly appreciate comments, suggestions, and edit my tabs accordingly. (smile)))

~always Maria.

I hit the size problem once or twice myself. I was just trying to get some hints for new tabbers. It is a lot of work to get the lyrics into the tabs. I just wanted to share a method that prevents the work of typing the lyrics in.

Just do the best you can, there are a lot of learners here, (including me).

You can even work in Microsoft Word and then move the tab here using cut and paste. I know quite a few people do that and find it much easier.

I removed my referance to Word in the earlier posting. Though if you plan to Email your tabs to anyone, Saving as TXT is best. The most important thing is the font, (Courior), and spacing withthe space bar, not the tab key.

I do mine in Word and then copy and paste it into the Add a tab page... then I can work offline until I'm ready to post it.

Maybe I should write software to help write tabs, something you can run on your desktop that will help you space everything. I am not sure how I could make it easier with a program but if anyone has any ideas let me know.

Perhaps a permenant 'How to Tab' section that contained information on the various ways of doing tab, with helpful hints on getting lyrics, Tab rulers, harmonica note layouts, and finding sheet music. Not as sexy as a tab writing program though.

I can setup another forum section called that but unfortunetly the way the current forum is posting is not available. One of the projects I am working on for another website is an online "File Cabinet". Once it is done I could put it up here as well for that section.

That sounds good. A place to archive insructions and help for tabbing could fit there.

There are a lot of lyric sites.

Google search has not let me down when I cannot find them at the usual sites.

I've seen a lot of people mention how there isn't enough room for lyrics, I just post the first verse and chorus of a song, it generally stays the same after that. Then if you want to know the rest of a song I guess you would have to look it up which can be a pain but oh well. lol!
