3my 2 C harps spent ~20 years in my junk drawer, rattling around with short lengths of 550 cord, likely dead batteries, rubber bands, bic lighters and such.

i'm mostly doing scales, and broke through this morning. if i pay attention, i CAN blow sweet, pure notes.

hallelujah!

even tuned a couple of reeds (8&9) that weren't working, driven by info i got here.

those nails are just stupid, though. what were they thinking? covers, or plates, or whatever you call them, are loose and rattly now. 2 heads popped off nails in disassembly, and are now useless.

i'm thinking of drilling through and installing tiny machine screws and nuts.

an obvious solution, i reckon. good idea? if so, details appreciated.

i do have a suzuki promaster on the way. can't wait.

thanks for any help.

oh, sorry for any typos. my phone doesn't allow much editing.

This guy has a series of videos to walk you through replacing the nails with screws.

thanks, yukon.

unfortunately, i don't get a good enough signal out here on a ranch in west texas to watch videos online.

got 1 done this morning, though.

nothin'to it. <grin> i disassembled harp and drilled each piece separately, then had to fiddle a bit to reassemble. next time, i'll just do 1 end at a time, and drill through the whole "tin sandwich."
