I have a Hohner Comet in C & G.Does anyone have any information on the note layout for both sides of this harp. Also is it possible to get tabs for this tuning or do existing Diatonic tabs do.

I went to the Hohner website to look at this and I do not know what the tuning is on these harmonicas. They sound interesting:

Each row of holes on Octave Harmonicas is tuned exactly one octave apart. When the two rows are played at the same time this creates an effect of two harmonicas simultaneously playing the same melody. This enables a single player to achieve a stronger, full-bodied sound not possible while playing a standard diatonic. Octave tuning is the harmonica equivalent of a 12-string guitar!

Thanks for that.As far as I can make out Comet's are supposed to be blown on one note and drawn on another and not to be blown and drawn on the same note at all! It's very hard to find layout's on both C & G tuned sides.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you have a C on one side of the harmonica and a G on the other side.

I believe this is a diatonic tuning. The top and bottom holes are meant to be played togather. They are the same note - one octive apart.

The first two sets of holes are the same as hole 1 on a diatonic harmonica. The first set is the blow, the second set is the draw.

You should, with practice, be able to play songs tabed in C diatonic on one side and songs tabed in G on the other side.

Wouldn't it be nice if Hohner would post the note layout for all their harmonicas?

I have always noticed this glaringly obvious oversight.

Why is this such a mystery?

I found this at.
[coast2coastmusic.com]
It has colours in sections but don't know out what their significance is.
Still nothing for the key of G on the reverse side though.
Mine is the fourth one down.
Thanks everyone for your input.
