hey guys im giving harmonica lessons and i'm having trouble finding good songs for them to practice. one problem is that the don't recognize the song and have trouble getting it down right because of this.

p.s. they are now a little past the "when the saints go marching in" level.

I would recommend providing a recording of the music you want them to play. That way they can listen to it and try to play along with it or at least read the music while they listen. That should solve your problem.

From a beginner's point of view, I'm enjoying learning how to play some of the children's songs, ie 'Oh where has my little dog gone,' or Peter Paul & Mary's, 'Puff the Magic Dragon.' Most Children's songs are fairly easy & everybody knows the tunes.

Just a thought...

I am partial to "Dust in the Wind", but the younger crowd may not know it.
