New York State Of Mind (Diatonic)

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND BILLY JOEL

Key of C

  5 5 -4 4 -4 5 5
Some folks like to get a-way,

 -4 4 -4 5 5 -4 4 -4 4 4
Take a hol-i-day from the neigh-bor-hood.

 6 -6 -6 6 -5 6 -6 -6 6 -5 6 -5 -5
Hop a flight to Mi-a-mi Beach or to Hol-ly-wood

 -2 5 5 -4 4 -4 4
But I'm tak-in' a Grey-hound

-3b -2 -3b 4 -4 4 4
on the Hud-son Riv-er line

-3b 4 -3b -4 -4 4 -3b -3b
I'm in a New York state of mind

VERSE 2 same as 1
I've seen all the movie stars in their
fancy cars and their limousines.
Been high in the Rockys under the evergreens.
I know what I'm needin', and I don't
wanna waste more time.
I'm in a New York state of mind.

(CHORUS)

 4 4 4 4 -3 -3b -2 -3b -3 -3
It was so ea-sy liv-in' day by day

 -3 -3 -3 -3 -3 -3 4 -4 -3b
Out of touch with the rhy-thm and blues

 -4 -4 -4 -4 4 -3 -3b -3 4 4
and now I need a lit-tle give and take

-3b -3 4 4 -2 -3b -3 -3
The New York Times, the Dai-ly News.

VERSE 5 same as 1
It comes down to reality, and it's fine
with me cause I've let it slide.
I don't care if it's Chinatown
or on Riverside.
I don't have any reasons.
I left them all behind.
I'm in a New York state of mind.
Oh yeah.
It was so easy liv-ing day by day

(CHORUS)

(REPEAT VERSE 5)
It comes down to reality, and it's fine
with me cause I've let it slide.
I don't care if it's Chinatown o
r on Riverside.
I don't have any reasons.
I left them all behind.
I'm in a New York state of mind.

I'm just taking a Greyhound on the Hudson River line.
Cause I'm in a, I'm in a New York state of mind
