With A Swag On My Shoulder

  4 4 -4 4 4 -6 -6b 6
When first I left old ire-land’s shore

-5b 5 4 4 4 4 4
The yarns we were told of how

 -4 4 4 4 4 6 -6b 6
The folks in far Aus-tra-li-a

 -5b 5 -4 4 5 6
Could pick up lumps of Gold

 6 -6b -5b 7 -6b 6 -5b 5 6
How gold dust lay in all the streets and

-5b 5 -4 4 4
mi-ners right was free!

 4 4 -4 4 4 6 -6b 6
Hur-rah I told my lov-ing friends

 -5b 5 4 5 4 4
That’s just the place for me

(CHORUS)

 6 6 -6b -5b 7 -6b 6 5
With my swag all in my shoul-der

 6 -5b 5 -4 4 4
Black bil-ly in my hand

 4 4 -4 4 4 6 -6b 4 6 -6b 6
I’ll trav-el the bush-es of Aus-tra-li-a

-5b 5 4 5 5 4 4
Like a true born I-rish-man

(VERSE 2)

When first we reached port Melbourne
We were all prepared to slip
And bar the captain and the mate
All hands abandoned ship
And all te girls of Melbourne town
Threw up their arms with joy
Hurrooing and esclaiming
Here comes my irish boy

VERSE 3
We made our way into Geelong
Then north to Balarat
Where some of us grew mighty thin
And some grew sleek and fat
Some tried hteir luck at Bendigo
And some at fiery creek
I made my fortune in a day
And blued it in a week

CHORUS

VERSE 4
For many years I wandered round
To each new field about
And made and spent full many a pound
Till alluvial petered out
And then for any job of work
I was prepared to try
But now ive found the tucker track
Ill stay there till I die

(CHORUS TO END)

ENJOY!!
