  4 -5 -5 -5 5 -5 5 -5 -5
His ol' man was a re-bel yel-ler,

 5 5 5 -4 -4 4 4
Bad boy to the bone, he'd say,

 -5 -5 -5 -5 5 -5 -6b
Can't trust that oth-er fel-ler,

 5 5 5 5 -4 -4 4 4 -4
He'd judge em’ by the tone of their skin,

-5 5 -5 5 5 -5 -5 -5
He was raised to think like his dad,

5 5 5 5 -4 -4
Nar-row mind full of hate,

-5 5 -5 5 -5 -5 -5
On the road to no where fast,

 5 5 5 5 5 4 4 -4 -4
Til’ the grace of God got in the way,

  5 -4 5 -4 5
then he saw the light,

 4 4 4 4 -6b 4 -6b 4 4 -5
And hit his knees, and cried, and said a prayer,

 -4 -4 4 -4 5 5
Rose up a brand new man,

 4 4 4 4 4 4 -6b
And left the old one right there,

(Chorus)

  5 -4 5 4
Here’s to the strong,

  5 -4 5 4
Thanks to the brave,

  5 -4 4 5
Don’t give up hope,

  5 -4 4 4
Some peo-ple change,

5 -4 5 4
A-gainst all odds,

5 -4 5 4
A-gainst the grain,

  5 -4 4 5
Love finds a way,

 5 -4 4 4
Some peo-ple change.

VERSE 2

 -5 5 -5 -5 5 -5 5 -5 -5
She was born with her moth-er’s hab-it,

 5 5 5 5 -4 -4 -4
You could say it’s in her blood,

 4 -5 -5 5 -5 5 -5 -6b
She hates that she’s got to have it,

5 5 5 5 5 -4
As she fills her glass up,

  4 4 -3 -3b -3b -3b -2
She’d love to kill that bot-tle,

-5b 5 5 5 5 -4 -4
But all she can think a-bout,

-5 5 -5 5 -5 5 -5 5 -6b
Is a bet-ter life, a sec-ond chance,

 4 5 5 5 5 5 -4 -4
And ev-ry-one she’s let-ting down,

 5 5 5 5 -4 -4
She throws that bot-tle down,

Chorus:

  4 4 4 4 4 -4 5
Thank God for those who make it,

 6 5 5 4 5
Let them be the light,

 6 5 5 4 5
Let them be the light,

Some people change,

(CHORUS)

5 -4 4 4
Some people change
