 4 4 4 4 4 5 4
The boats are home-ward com-ing

5 5 -4 4 4 4
a-cross the brim-ming fjord

 5 5 -5 6 5 -6 6
the nets are full of ström-ming

-5 5 -5 5 -4 4
and all are gay a-board

 5 4 4 4 4 4 -6 6 -6 -6
but home-ward nev-er-more comes my sail-or

 4 4 4 4 4 5 4
the fish-ers huts are lad-en

   5 5 -4 4 4 4
they’re bak-ing brit-tle bread

 5 5 -5 6 5 -6 6
what care they that a maid-en

-5 5 -5 5 -4 4
is weep-ing for her dead

 5 4 4 4 4 4 -6 6 -6 -6
that bells will nev-er ring for her wed-ding

2.
O cold the storm as blowing
No winding sheet had he
No parting kiss bestowing
They buried him at sea
With all my heart beside
In the blue tide

•	strömming- a fish much like a herring
caught in large quantities off the Gulf
   of Bothnia Sweden.
