Music by Jerry Garcia
Words by Robert Hunter
The verse can be played on a standard tuned C diatonic,
however the bridge requires a "country" tuned harmonica,
i.e. an F# on draw five.
-3 -3 -3 4 -4
If my words did glow
-4 -4 -7-6 -7 6 5
with the gold of sunshine
-4 5 6 -6 6
And my tunes were played
-4 5 6 5 -4
on the harp unstrung
-3 -3 -3 4 -4
would you hear my voice
-4 -7-6 -7 6 5
come thru the music
-7 -7 -7 7 -6
would you hold it near
5 6 6 -6 6
as it were your own
-6 6 -6 6 -6 -5 5 -4
ripple in still water
5 -5 6 -6 6 -4 5
when there is no pebble tossed
-5 6 5 -4
nor wind to blow
Play on a harmonica— watch which holes to blow & draw, with sound
