3   3  4       4   -4  5
In the field, late at night
4  5      6     -5  -4 4
shepherds watch by moonlight.
5    6     6   5 5  6  -5 5 -4
Then they hear angels singing,
-5   5 4     5   5 -4
the  heavens are ringing:
3 4       4  -4 -5 5
"Rejoice, do  not  fear;
4 5 6  -5  -4 4
the Savior is here!"

The shepherds arise, leave their flocks where they lie.
They leap and are singing,
they run, joy is bringing.
They soon find their way
to the child on the hay.

O child, God's own Son,
on the heavenly throne,
you came down to save us,
your mercy, you gave us.
You came, Lord, to me;
I thank you deeply.
