[V1]
.-7 -6< 7 -7. 7< -7
 Ich möcht ein Se-gen sein,
. -8 -6< -7 7...
 mehr als ich war;
. 7 6 -6< 7. -6< 7
 dies ist mein Wunsch al-lein
. -7 6 7 -6<...
 stets Jahr um Jahr;
. -7 -6< 7 -7. 7< -7
 dies ist mein Bitt-ge-such,
.-9 8< -8 -7...
 ich sag es frei,
. -8 8< -9 -9. -7 -7
 dass ich ein Wohl-ge-ruch
.-6< 7 6 -5...
 für Je-sum sei.

[V2]
 Ich möcht ein Segen sein
 an jedem Ort
 und guten Samen streun
 aus Gottes Wort.
 Wohin er mich auch stellt,
 da gibt es Raum,
 zu tun, was ihm gefällt,
 und sonstwo kaum.

[V3]
 Ich möcht ein Segen sein
 zu jeder Stund
 und giessen Öl und Wein
 in jede Wund.
 Wohin das Auge schweift,
 sich zeiget Qual,
 der Fluch der Sünde reift
 und bringt zu Fall.

[V4]
 Lass mich ein Segen sein,
 o Herr, ich bitt!
 Doch kann ich’s nur allein
 mit dir im Schritt.
Drum schau ich auf zu dir
 mit heißem Flehn,
bis dass du sprichst zu mir:
 Es soll geschehn.
