[V2]
 Zu dem Kreuz ich bebend kam,
 hilflos, schuldbeladen;
 an dem blutbefleckten Stamm
 ward ich frei von Schaden.

[V3]
 Nach dem Kreuze laß mich schaun,
 laß den Herrn mich sehen;
 ich will nur dem Opfer traun,
 das am Kreuz geschehen.

[V4]
 Von dem Kreuze rühme ich;
 für das Kreuz ich wage;
 und die Krone harrt auf mich,
 wenn das Kreuz ich trage.
