Oh-- Death, Oh—-Death
6 -5 -6 -6 6 6 -5 -4 -4 4 -4
Won’t you spare me o-ver til a-noth-er year
-4 -4 -5 -4 -4 -4 -6
What is this that I can see
6 -6 -6 6 -5 -4 -4 4 -4
With i-cy hands tak-in hold of me
-4-4 -5 -4 -4 -4 -4 -6
I am death and none can ex-cel
6 -6 -6 -6 6-5 -4 -4 -4 4 -4
I’ll o-pen the doors to hea-ven or hell
-4 -5 -4 -4 -4 -6
Whoa Death, some-one would pray
6 -6 -6 -6 6-5 -4 -4 4 -4
Could-n’t you call again some oth-er day?
-4 -4 -4 -5 -4 -4 -4 -6
God’s child-ren prayed, the preach-er preached,
6 -6 -6 6 -5 -4 -4 -4 4 -4
Both time and merc-y are out of your reach
I’ll fix your feet so you can’t walk
I’ll lock your jaw so you can’t talk
Close your eyes so you can’t see
This ver-y hour, come go with me
Death, I come to take the soul
Leave the bod-y and leave it cold
To drop the flesh off of the frame
The earth and worms both have a claim
The old, the young, the rich, the poor
All a-like with me, you know;
No wealth, no land, no silver, or gold
Nothing satis-fies me but your soul
