Key: A

-6 6
Mem-‘ries,
 6 -6 7 -7 -6 6 5
Like the cor-ners of my mind
 -4 5 6 5 -6’ 5 -7 -6
Mist-y wa-ter-col-or mem-‘ries
-4 5 -4 4 5
Of the way we were

 4 5 -6 6
Scat-tered pic-tures,
6 -6 7 -7 -6 6 5
Of the smiles we left be-hind
  -4 5 6 5 -6’ 5 -7 -6
Smiles we gave to one an-oth-er
-4 5 -4 4 5
For the way we were

 4 7 7 7 7 7 7 -7 -7 -6 -6
Can it be that it was all so sim-ple then?
-7 -7 -7 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -7
Or has time re-writ-ten ev-‘ry line?
-6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -6 6 -6 6 -5 -5
If we had the chance to do it all a-gain
 -6 6 5 6 5 6
Tell me, would we? could we?

-6 6
Mem-‘ries,
 6 -6 7 -7 -6 6 5
May be beau-ti-ful and yet
  -4 5 6 5 -6’5 -7 -6
What's too pain-ful to re-mem-ber
-6 -7 7 -7 8 -8 7
We sim-ply choose to for-get
7 -7 -6 -6 6
So it's the laugh-ter
8 -8 7 -6 6
We will re-mem-ber
 8 -9 8 -8 7 -6 6
When-ev-er we re-mem-ber...
 5 -4 4 5
The way we were...

The way we were...
