I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THEE (PSALM 40)

2 2 -1 3 -1 2 -1 3
I waited patiently for Thee,
3 -2 4 5 5 4 -3
And my Lord, You heard my plea:
-3 4 -2 3 -1 1
You lifted me, lifted me.
2 -1 3 -1 2 -1 3
From the mire of despair,
3 -2 4 5 5 4 -3
O my Lord, were You not there,
-3 4 -2 3 3 -1 2 1
To set me free, to set me free?
-1 3 -2 -2 -2 -2 -2 3 -1
Many are the wonders You have done,
2 3 -1
O Lord God.
-1 -1 3 -2 -2 -2 -2
The things You've planned for us too
-2 3 -1 -2 -3
Numerous to count!
2 2 -1 3 -1 2 -1 3
How blessed are those who trust in You,
3 -2 4 5 5 4 -3
For my Lord, Your Word is true.
-3 4 -2 3 -1 2 2
Lord be with me, be with me.

Verse 2:
Sacrifice and offerings:
They are not what You require—
But rather Lord, You want me.
Here I am, Lord, I have come.
Lord, Your will is my desire,
And in my heart will Your law be.
I proclaim Your righteousness to great Assemblies.
I do not seal my lips but praise You, O my God!
I tell of faithfulness and care,
Spread Your truth, love, ev'rywhere.
Lord, be with me, be with me.
