I WATCHED MY WAYS (PSALM 39)

5    6    -6 7    6 -5 6 -5   5
I watched my ways; I kept from sin.
5   6    7     8
My lips were sealed;
-8 -7 7 -6 7    6 -5
I kept my pain within.
5   6 -6     7    6 -5 6 -5 5
But silent, still, my pain did grow.
5    6    7    8
My heart grew hot;
-8 -7 7 -6    7 6 -5
A fire burned in my soul!
5   -5 5   6     5 -5   5    6
So then I spoke — I spoke my tongue,
-8    -8
Lord! Lord!
8   -8   -7
Hear my prayer!
-7    7   -6 7   6   -5
Lord, hear my cry for help,
5 -5 5   6 7
My daily weeping!
5 -5 5   6   -6 6 -5
I call to You, O God.

Verse 2:
Show me, O Lord, how long my stay.
How fleeting are the number of my days!
My span of years is but a breath.
Relentlessly, I march unto my death.
I am a phantom, who toils in vain, Lord! Lord!
Be with me.
Lord, all my hope is You.
You are my meaning.
Save me from sin, O God.

Verse 3:
5   6 -6 7    6      -5 6 -5 5
O Lord my God, please hear my prayer.
5    6 7   8 -8
Take off my bur-den;
-7 7 -6 7    6   -5
Lift me with Your care.
5    6 -6 7   6   -5 6 -5 5
Lord turn a-way this test of pain,
5    6   7    8 -8 -7 7 -6 7   6 -5
That one last time I ma-y rejoice again,
5   -5 5 5
Be-fore I die.
5   -5 5 5
Be-fore I die.
