Tab

This is tabbed for a 24 hole Echo Celeste tremolo

6 6 6 -6 7
The song came and went
-6 6 -6 -5 6 -6
Like the times that we spent
6 6 6 5 6 6
Hiding out from the rain
6 -5 5 -5 5 5 5
Under the carnival tent
3 6 6 -6 7
I laughed and she’d smile
-6 6 -5 -5 6 -6
It would last for awhile
6 6 6 5 6 -7
You don’t know what you’ve got
6 6 7 7 6 5 5
Till you lose it all again
Chorus:
7 -7 8 7 -9 8 8 8
Listen to the mandolin rain
7 -7 -7 7 7 7 7 7 -7
Listen to the music on the lake
7 -6 6 -6 6 -6 5
Oh, listen to my heart break
6 7 7 6 6 5 5
Every time she runs away
7 7 -7 8 -7 -9 8 8
Oh, listen to the banjo wind
7 8 -7 7 7 -7
A sad song drifting low
-6 6 -6 6 -6 6
Listen to the tears roll
-5 6 6 -5 5 -5 5 5
Down my face as she turns to go

Verse 2:
A cool evening dance
Listen to the bluegrass band
Takes the chill from the air
Until they play the last song
I’ll do my time
Oh, keeping you off my mind
But there’s moments that I find
I’m not feeling so strong

Chorus:

-8 -8 -8 -8 -7 -7 7
Runnin’ down by the lake shore
7 6 -5 -5 6 6 6 6 5 -5
She did love the sound of a summer storm
-5 -8 -8 -8 8 8 -9 -7 -7
Played on the lake like a mandolin
7 6 -5 5 7 7 -6 5 -5 -5
Now it’s washing her away, once again
-7 7 6 6
Whoa, again

Verse 3:
Boats steaming in
Oh, watch the side wheels spin
And I think about her when
I hear that whistle blow
I can’t change my mind
Oh, I knew all the time that she’d go
But that’s a choice I made long ago

Every time she runs away

A sad song drifting low

Down my face as she turns to go

As she turns to go
