THE DROVER’S DREAM hi-lo
Australian folk song
Key: G

 3 4 -4 5 -4 4
 6 7 -8 8 -8 7
One night when trav-‘ling sheep,

3 3 -3” -3 4 -3” 3
6 6 -6 -7 7 -6 6
my com-pan-ions lay a-sleep

  3 3 4 4 4
  6 6 7 7 7
There was not a star

4 4 4 -3 4 -4
7 7 7 -7 7 -8
to ‘lu-mi-nate the sky

3 3 4 -4 5 -4 4
6 6 7 -8 8 -8 7
I was dream-ing I sup-pose,

 3 3 -3” -3 4 -3” 3
 6 6 -6 -7 7 -6 6
for my eyes were part-ly closed

 4 -4 5 5 5 4 -4 -4
 7 -8 8 8 8 7 -8 -8
When a ver-y strange pro-ces-sion

  -4 -3 4
  -8 -7 7
passed me by

  4 -4 5 5 5 5 5
  7 -8 8 8 8 8 8
First there came a kan-ga-roo

 5 -5 6 6 6 5 4
 8 -9 9 9 9 8 7
with his swag of blan-kets blue

3 4 4 4 4 4 4 -3 4 -4
6 7 7 7 7 7 7 -7 7 -8
a din-go ran be-side him as his mate

 3 -3” 4 -4 5 -4 4
 6 -6 7 -8 8 -8 7
They were trav-‘lin’ might-y fast

 3 3 -3” -3 4 -3” 3
 6 6 -6 -7 7 -6 6
but they shout-ed as they passed

 4 -4 5 5 5 4 -4
 7 -8 8 8 8 7 -8
We'll have to jog a-long,

 -4 -4 -3 4
 -8 -8 -7 7
it's get-ting late
