ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH
By: John Denver & Mike Taylor
Key: E

-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4
He was born in the sum-mer
-4 -4 -4 -3 -3 3* -2*
of his twen-ty sev-enth year,
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -3 3*
com-in' home to a place he'd nev-er
 -3 3* 2
been be-fore.
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 5* 6 5*
He left yes-ter-day be-hind him,
-4 -4 -4 -3 -3 -3 3* -2*
you might say he was born a-gain.
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 4* 4* -4 -4 -33* 2 2
You might say he found a key for ev-'ry door.
 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4
When he first came to the moun-tains
-4 -4-3 -3 -3 3*-2*
his life was far a-way,
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -4 -3 3* 2
on the road and hang-in' by a song.
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 5* 6 5*
But the string's al-read-y bro-ken
-4 -4 -4 -3 -3 3* -2*
and he does-n't real-ly care.
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4
It keeps chang-in' fast
-4 -4 -4 -33* 2 2
and it don't last for long.
 2 2 4* 4* 4*4* 4*-4-4 -4 3* 4*
But the Col-or-a-do Rock-y Moun-tain High
 4* 4* 4* 4*-4 -4 -4 -4-3 3* 3*
I've seen it rain-in' fire in the sky.
 2 4* 4* 4* 4* -55* -55*-4
The sha-dow from the star-light
-4 -4 -4 -4 -4 4* -5 6
is soft-er than a lul-la-by.
 5* 6 5* -3 -4 4* 4*4*-4 -4 -4
Rock-y Moun-tain High, Rock-y Moun-tain High.
