Song: | 5 5 -4 4 5 -4
I once was a Baptist -4 4 -3 4 -4 4 and on each Sunday morn 4 4 5 6 -6 -5 I'd be in church praying 7 7 -7 -6 6 as sure as you're born. 5 5 -4 4 5 5 We'd sing there like angels 5 5 5 -5 6 -6 in that sweet harmony 7 7 -7 -6 6 -6 But sin and salvation 5 5 -5 5 -4 4 are no longer for me. 4 4 5 6 -6 -5 Cause now I'm a Buddhist -6 -6 -6 -6 6 -5 6 I chant my mantra each day 6 -5 5 -5 6 6 -6 But I miss that hymn singing 6 6 6 -5 5 -4 in that old Gospel way. 5 5 5 -4 4 5 5 So well sing to old Buddha 5 5 5 -5 6 -6 and the wonders of Zen. 7 7 -7 -6 6 -6 We'll meet in Nirvana, 6 -5 5 -4 4 yes we'll be there then. Now my old friends don't like me since I shaved my head and they all talk about me as if I were dead. My good old Zen buddies they think I'm ok, But I can't get them singing more than one note a day. We sit here cross legged eating brown rice and cheese and we chant out our mantra in four square harmony. We don't sing of salvation or a heavenly home. It's Zen gospel singing, just Om Om, sweet Om. |
