ROFL! I suspected as much. I figured if nothing else, your omnipotence as webmaster would keep you in first, even if I do manage to beat out your 7000+ points.
& Yes, I'm very esctatic over it, especially since I managed to get there, not only before the first of the year (which was my initial goal), but before Christmas as well! (YIPPIE!)
It's funny really, this quest of some here to compile points. Ingenious of Nick to capture the spirit of the kid in us all. Although posting for points doesn't do it for me personally, the book of harp tabs I have gathered for me own use comes mainly from the highest contributors like pcguyiv. Brilliant.
Oh, I don't know much about the WWW. What's to prevent a fellow from
stealing all the tabs and publishing them in either a book or a pay for website?
Tabs are just the positions of the musical notes. They don't tell you how to actually play the tune. Without knowing tempo, note duration, rests, etc, publishing just the tabs isn't very informative.
Quite honestly, if I was concerned about "plagarism" of my work, then I wouldn't be posting on the internet. Besides, most of the tabs I've written are of known music, so if anything, the credit for the music goes to the original composers & (if applicable) lyricists. It's no skin off my nose if someone "steals" from my tabs, because the way I see it, there's not much to "steal" from.
I do not own the songs I tab. If someone published the tabs, they would not own them. I am sure the owners of the songs would have something to say about publishing.
