A question concerning my hohner chromonica 270

Hello.

I got a chromonica 270 last year (played some diactonic before) but it seems there are something to it I dont understand. After a while some of the notes needed more pressure to make a sound, resulting in a really bad sound (sounded like a small explosion) everytime I had to force the air in to make it sound. This resultet in me handing in the harmonica for a new one as I thought it was flawed. Now the new haronica is behaving in the same manner...

1. I havent played it too hard
2. Its mainly the 6 and 7th hole
3. Its not food or something that are stuck

Is this flawed aswell, or are there some trick to it I need to know?

Great forum by the way!

Hi there Mate,
You might have to open the harmonica up and free the reeds that are a bit stuck, with a piece of paper under the reeds, BE CAREFULL Not to go too far as You might get your valuable instrument out of tune...
just have a look inside the instruments and You will find that some reeds are stuck.
The Very Best of Luck, Hope You'll get it sorted!!!

Sounds like possibly a stuck windsaver, it usually happens on a blow note as the moisture of your breath makes them adhere to the reed plate. Also, there are two parts to the windsaver and if moisture makes them stick together they'll make a sort of squealing sound. I often get the popping sound, especially if I don't warm the harp before I play it, it goes away with continued playing.
