Expanding

Well, after learning the Pentatonic Scale some time back and sticking to it, I am now expanding to a full Major Scale and Blues Scale. Learning the 5 note Pentatonic Scale was a big break through for me. It made navigating the harmonica much easier and really opened up my playing ability. I now play a lot of songs in 1st position that I couldn't do before. Plus playing Majors in 2nd position and Minors in 3rd position.

Now I think it's time to expand to the full 7 note Major Scale and the 6 note Blues Scale. I've been at it a little over two weeks. I broke it out at a local jam last Wed. night and I think it worked quite well. It seemed I got a lot more "good job" and nods than usual from the patrons and musicians alike. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in it for the pats on the back, it just feel good knowing I'm not ruining someones song. It's always been my goal to try to add to the song with out screwing it up. Guitar players aren't to fond of harp players as it is.

I guess I'll keep working at it, and maybe someday.......................
