2< be or not -2 be chromatic

For beginner Chromatic players the -2 on C chromatic can be a little sluggish and can be difficult to draw if you have already had several draw notes to perform.

SOLUTION, -2 being note F can be replaced by using the +2< which is also note F

Here is an example from the tab of "AMAPOLA"
+3 +3 -2 +3
and lov-ing you
-3 +3 -2 -3 +3 -2 -1< -1
it seems to beat a rhap-so- dy

now play it this way, +3 +3 +2< +3

-3 +3 +2< -3 +3 +2< -1< -1

Having applied the valve on the Rhap of rhapsody it gives you an easier flow through.
This little wrinkle can be applied in other tabbs and give the harpist an easier playing through.

(May have been easier to say just change all the -2 to +2< in the tab "Amapola"winking smiley

Especially if your harp is getting older the low draw notes get really sluggish, while 2> is virtually a brand new reed.

Brand new reed or not, I have applied this theory of abandoning all chromatic -2 and now favour a +2< instead. It enables you to swing into a song and when -2 comes in a line of blow notes with valve applied it makes for much easier playing. The only thing is if you are reading Tab with the -2 F note printed, remembering to change it to +2< must be high in your mind.
