My Personal Message

I just read on someone elses profile about how the harmonica can lift the spirits and I can't tell you enough how true that is. Not looking for sympathy or whatever, but I am here in Iraq and that is where I have learned to play the harp, self taught with some books and just plain listening and knowing a lot of old songs. Anyways, when we are on the road and taking a rest stop, rarely a time goes by when the guys don't ask me to take out the harp and play something for them. Now I just know some simple stuff, but it is AMAZING how that uplifts people and just takes them almost to another place. I really am not that good I think, but they love to hear me play a little Oh Susanna or Edelweiss with an occassional Johnny Cash song thrown in there. I play every night outside my room and I even have some people who listen to me practice most nights, just to listen to me play. Try it sometime, when someone is down, try playing a tune for them or just start talking about the harp and watch people change and get a smile back on there face. If you are a shy person, just try blowing on something that you know very well for someone to get your confidence up and the 1st time someone says, hey that was Bla Bla Bla you were playing, guarantee you will also be a changed person
