I have played now for about 10 months. I started in April 2011. It
happened by accident. I found an old tremolo among my wifes
posessions. I searched on internet about harmonicas and read that you
could learn to play harmonica in only 10 minutes. Of course they said
10 minutes a day, but I was too impatient to read it all.
Anyway after my first 10 minutes I could actually play a song. Not
very nicely but at least not beyond recognition either. Then I was
hooked, Since then I have played for about an hour or two almost every
day. Some days more, some days little less. But rarely a day without
any playing at all. And that tremolo broke down, so I bought myself
some new instruments. I kind of prefer Hohner. So far I got a C, D, A
and G. And last week I got my first chromatic (Swan 10 hole).
I play everywhere. While waiting on the bus, in commercial breaks
when watching tv. On the bus if not too many people. I always have my
harmonica in my pocket.
I would love to play blues, but I have no talent for that. I know
nothing about music. So I stick to playing simple songs. Some gospels
that I hear in church and other easy melodies.
I did try to write a few songs and a couple of them have actually
been played in church too. But I don't believe I can ever make a
carreer out of it.
But I keep huffing and puffing my harmonica for as long as I feel
joy doing it. And I can't see myself stopping any time soon.
